Our Story

From Vietnam to Houston.

Việt Wine was founded in Houston, Texas, with a simple but meaningful mission: to preserve and share the rich tradition of Vietnamese rice spirit with future generations and with the world.

For more than 3,000 years, rice spirit has been an integral part of Vietnamese culture. Its roots reach back to ancient cultures such as Phùng Nguyên, Đồng Đậu, Gò Mun, and Đông Sơn, where archaeological discoveries reveal evidence of rice cultivation, fermentation, and early brewing traditions. Through centuries of history, rice spirit became more than a beverage. It became a symbol of family, community, celebration, and cultural identity.

During nearly 100 years of French colonial rule, traditional rice spirit faced heavy restrictions and taxation. Yet the craft survived because Vietnamese families preserved their recipes, techniques, and traditions from one generation to the next. The spirit endured because it was deeply woven into the heart of Vietnamese culture.

Today, Việt Wine proudly continues that legacy in the United States. As a family-owned distillery, we remain committed to traditional methods inspired by generations of Vietnamese craftsmanship. Rooted in rice and guided by time-honored techniques alongside modern distilling standards, we craft spirits that honor the past while embracing the future.

Our goal is not only to produce exceptional spirits, but also to introduce international consumers to one of Vietnam’s oldest cultural traditions. Just as Japan is known for sake and Korea for soju, we believe Vietnamese rice spirit deserves its place on the world stage.
